Missing Mail Mystery Almost Collapses Milford Business: Report

A local business had hundreds of payments from clients missing for months, and it almost led the company to collapse.

MILFORD, CT — Local business owner Dan Thornberg, 31, of Total Lawn Care & More has had a major problem that almost cost him his business, which employs 10-15 people.

For some mysterious reason his mail stopped coming, which featured numerous payments from clients and also some timely bills, according to Hearst CT Media.

Last week he received about 80 pieces of mail that were long overdue but still 200 pieces of mail are outstanding. All the missing mail dates back to Dec. 1-10, Hearst reports, and some mail landed states away.

In order to survive, Thornberg has had to sell a house and use credit cards. Total Lawn Care & More is a commercial snow-plowing, and lawn maintenance company serving Milford for almost 10 years.

He was not told until recently that a COVID-19 outbreak at an out-of-state facility was the reason his mail was delayed, WTNH News 8 reports. He said he wished he would have been given this information much sooner so he could have contacted clients directly.
