New Details Of 36-Hour Standoff Released By Milford Police

A man threatened to shoot officers and is facing charges, police said. Police also seized weapons including a grenade from his home.

MILFORD, CT ? A man who threatened to shoot officers multiple times and surrendered after a 36-hour standoff is now facing charges, police said. Police also seized weapons, ammunition, and a hand grenade from the man's home.

Daniel Rodak was charged with first-degree threatening, interfering with an officer, and breach of peace.

Police responded to a call for a welfare check at a Pullman Drive address April 28 at 11:15 a.m.

Police attempted to make contact with Rodak, who "threatened to shoot officers multiple times as they attempted to check on his wellbeing," police said in a statement.

Officers pulled back from the home and set a perimeter. They attempted to negotiate with Rodak but were unsuccessful.

Nearby homes were evacuated and access to the street was restricted as a precaution.

The next day, April 29, Rodak "escalated his threats and threatened to shoot at police vehicles as well," police said.

After about 36 hours, Rodak surrendered and was taken into custody.

Police got a search warrant for the home and said they found several weapons, ammunition, and a hand grenade.

The State Police Bomb Squad dealt with the grenade. Police seized the weapons and ammunition.

Bond was set at $250,000. He was taken to appear in Milford Superior Court on Wednesday.
