New Principal Signs On At The Academy In Milford

The new principal, who previously worked in Bridgeport Public Schools, will start her job in Milford next month.

MILFORD, CT ? Milford Public Schools has named Amanda Marshall as the new principal of The Academy, an alternative education high school. Marshall has served as an assistant principal and school counselor in Bridgeport Public Schools.

She will begin her post in Milford on March 5.

Marshall began her career as a professional educator in 2013 when she took a long-term substitute counselor role at four different schools in the Bridgeport system.

She then became a full-time school counselor at High Horizons Magnet School. She spent the next seven years at the school.

She has served as assistant principal for High Horizons Magnet School and for Multicultural Magnet School (K-6) in Bridgeport since 2021.

?I firmly believe that all stakeholders should be involved in the education process and I feel for that to happen, the administrator needs to facilitate relationships between the school and families, as well as the community," Marshall said in a statement. "I am grateful for this new opportunity and I look forward to engaging with all of my future partners at The Academy.?

?I?m looking forward to having Ms. Marshall join the incredible professional team at the Academy," Superintendent Anna Cutaia said in a statement. "She brings the right balance of focusing on relationships with students, staff and parents while at the same time ensuring we support our young people to achieve at high levels with a focus on their next steps in their lives.?

Marshall earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Sacred Heart University in 2006 and a Master of Arts degree in school counseling from Fairfield University in 2013.

In 2016, she earned a sixth-year certificate in educational leadership from Sacred Heart. She is working on completing her doctorate in educational leadership through Capella University.
