The switch to remote learning for the high schools will allow staff to be deployed to Pre-K-8 school buildings in an effort to keep them open to in-person learning for as long as possible.
Elementary and middle schools will continue with their current schedule, but will have a full distance week following the Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks.

The full distance will occur from Nov. 30 through Dec. 4 and Jan. 4 through Jan 8.

"There has been an increased need for staff members to quarantine or isolate as a public health measure to assure the well-being of our school community," Superintendent Anna Cutaia wrote in a letter to school families Nov. 10. "This has drastically reduced the number of adults available to instruct our students. We simply are running out of available adults to be in our schools."

So far contact tracing data shows the majority of transmission of the coronavirus is happening through social gatherings outside of schools, Cutaia wrote.
