Josephine J. Montanaro, age 101, of Milford, Connecticut, beloved wife of the late Augustine ?Gus? Montanaro, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 28, 1923, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Carlo and Caterina (Belardo) Pavia. Josephine was a telephone operator for AT&T for many years before retiring. Known for her fiery spirit and love of laughter, she enjoyed cooking, bowling, spending time with her family and friends - and had a famously colorful vocabulary that brought smiles to many.
Josephine was predeceased by three of her five children: Carl Montanaro, Anthony ?Tony? Montanaro (Linda), Judith ?Judy? A. Felix, and is survived by her sons, Augustine ?Gus? Montanaro (Maria Caselli) of Milford and John Montanaro of New Haven. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Carl Montanaro (Elise) of Stratford, Anthony Montanaro of California, Michael Montanaro of Shelton, John Montanaro (Georgina) of Woodbury, James Montanaro (Michelle) of Orange, Nicole Felix of Milford, Mark Montanaro (Marla) of Milford, and Christina Felix-Beach (Evan) of Troy, OH.
She is also lovingly remembered by her many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren including: Joseph, Matthew, CJ, Danielle, Gianni, Jacob, Leah (Anderson), Tyler, Brody, Britley, Violet, Max, Lucy, Alexia Montanaro, Nicholas and Anthony Felix Callion, Dylan and Jacob Beach and many others who brought her great joy.
Family and friends may call on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 291 BRIDGEPORT AVENUE, MILFORD followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church (Precious Blood Parish) 70 Gulf Street, Milford.
