Obituary: Willard George Simpson, 88

In 1951 he entered the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War. By his discharge in 1955 he had ranked as a Staff Sargent.

MILFORD, CT - Willard George Simpson, 88, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Elfeda Simpson, passed away on January 13, 2020. Born on November 23, 1931 in Milford, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Ruth Simpson.

Willard graduated from Milford High School in 1949 and went on to receive both his bachelors and masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bridgeport. In 1951 he entered the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War. By his discharge in 1955 he had ranked as a Staff Sargent in Strategic Air Command. Willard married the love of his life, Elfreda, on August 13, 1960. He worked as a Design Engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft for 28 years.

Willard is survived by his children, Cora (Ken) Shellhammer, Doug (Rae) Simpson, and Paul (Deb) Simpson; grandchildren, Benjamin Nicholas Simpson, Alexander J. Simpson, Olivia L. Simpson, and Samuel Simpson; and brother, Charles H. Simpson. He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday, January 17, 2020, at 1 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford. Interment will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry St., Milford. Friends and family may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the funeral home.
