MILFORD, CT ? A 59-year-old Fairfield physician has been sentenced to 18 months in prison in connection with an August 2021 hit-and-run crash in Milford that killed a 60-year-old nurse, the Milford Mirror reported.

The crash killed Elizabeth Rogers, who was a school nurse at Franklin Elementary School in Stratford; she was in front of her Herbert Street home in Milford when she was struck by the vehicle driven by Debasish Das.

Das' vehicle had crossed into the wrong lane when it struck Rogers; he reportedly told police that he had two drinks earlier in the day of the crash.

In an August 2024 plea deal with prosecutors, Das reportedly pleaded guilty to charges of negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and evading responsibility. The New Haven Register reported in 2023 that Das rejected a plea deal that called for three years in prison.

Das, an Orange resident and internist, whose practice was in Fairfield, was sentenced Monday by Superior Court Judge Kevin Russo.
