The bomb squad "rendered the device safe and it has been removed," according to police.

MILFORD, CT ? Local police and the state police bomb squad are at a New Haven Avenue address Thursday morning on a report of a suspicious device behind a building.

Shipyard Lane is temporarily shut down.
Police said there is no threat to the general public. Police asked the public to avoid the area.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we are protecting the area so that (state police) Bomb Squad can inspect and confirm that the device is not dangerous," police tweeted.
Milford Police are on scene in the area of 57 New Haven Avenue for a suspicious device located behind the building. There is no threat to the general public. Shipyard Ln is shut down temporarily. Please avoid the area.
