Rep. Ferraro and Republicans Demand Vote on House GOP No-Tax Budget

Rep. Charles Ferraro and House Republicans released a third revision to their balanced, no-tax-increase budget proposal on Tuesday.

From Rep. Ferraro: Rep. Charles Ferraro and House Republicans released a third revision to their balanced, no-tax-increase budget proposal on Tuesday calling on Democrat leaders in the legislature to vote on the GOP proposal by Thursday.

Rep. Ferraro said, “We have made repeated attempts to work across the aisle to pass a bipartisan budget this year, but Democrat leaders have failed to produce a budget of their own and continue to ignore the House Republican budget proposal. Our budget takes a new approach to tackling our budget deficits and will put our state on the road to recovery. Connecticut can have a budget in place by the end of the week, but it will take the House Speaker to finally recognize that the House Republican budget is the best solution for the state.”

Republicans came up with a balanced budget this spring and then revised that proposal to account for a dramatic drop in revenues in late April. The Democrats failed to produce a budget plan during the legislative session and opted to go into a special session to pass a budget.
