MILFORD, CT — A group of Milford residents have expressed concerns about traffic and a feeling that Milford is becoming overdeveloped and losing its colonial charm after a developer has proposed a massive development, which includes a shopping center, hotel and apartments, the New Haven Register reports.
A public hearing was held Tuesday night at City Hall. A developer, Metro Star Properties II LLC, is pitching to construct a 125-room hotel, 168 apartments near Bona Street, and a 60,000-square-foot shopping center on largely vacant land near the intersection of Route 1 and Plains Road, the Milford Mirror has reported. The hotel would be located near the Exit 36 off-ramp. (To sign up for Milford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

During Tuesday's public hearing residents raised concerns over the traffic the shopping center would create, the Register reports. One resident said Milford's turned from "the little city with the big heart," to a city with a lot of development, the New Haven Register reports.
The developer's attorney said his client is a "first-class developer" who has done numerous high-quality projects in Milford. No vote was taken Tuesday. A vote could occur in a couple of weeks.
