Southern CT Weather: New Snow Accumulation Estimates Released
A winter storm watch has just been issued for parts of southern Connecticut. Here are the new updates.
SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT ? The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch in effect from late Monday through Tuesday afternoon for inland sections of southern Connecticut.
"Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 9 inches with amounts upwards around 10 inches possible across the higher elevations....Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute," the weather service said in a Sunday update.
No advisories or weather statements have yet to be issued for coastal sections of southern Connecticut. The weather service is now predicting 2 to 4 inches of snow along the Connecticut coast and snowfall rates of an inch per hour are possible.

"The storm will bring a period of moderate to heavy snow inland, and rain transitioning to a rain/snow mix down to the coast. Gusty winds and minor to moderate coastal flooding impacts are also possible," the weather service said.
Snow estimates range from around 3 inches at the coast up to almost 8 inches near Waterbury. You can view the updated snow map from the weather service by clicking here.
