Tesla is Looking to Expand in Milford and in Connecticut
The company is also persuading lawmakers for permission to sell in Connecticut.

The Tesla Motors Service Center in Milford hopes to expand due to the increase in quantity of Tesla owners in the state, company officials said.
Tesla’s service center is located on the Post Road in Milford and they currently employ 20 people. The location originally opened in 2013.

Tesla can currently only service vehicles in Connecticut, but the company is pushing legislators for the support to be allowed to sell their product directly to consumers in the state.
Tesla wishes to open showrooms in different areas of the state and each showroom could create between 12 and 25 jobs, officials said. It is estimated that $8-10 million would be directly generated for the state economy.

Sales tax revenue is estimated at $1.7 million.
The company pushed for bill HB 6682 during the 2015 legislative session, which would allow them to sell in Connecticut directly to consumers. The bill received support from the Connecticut Automotive Retailers Association (CARA) and passed the house with bipartisan support but never came to a vote in the senate, according to company officials.
Tesla Motors’ (NASDAQ: TSLA) goal is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable transport with a full range of increasingly affordable electric cars. California-based Tesla designs and manufactures electric vehicles, as well as renewable energy storage. Tesla has delivered more than 90,000 electric vehicles to customers worldwide.
On Feb. 3, the General Assembly will reconvene and the Tesla motor company will continue their efforts to educate lawmakers on how they operate, as well as how their business model can benefit the state, according to the New Haven Register.
Tesla’s government relations manager Will Nicholas said via the New Haven Register that allowing the company to sell its cars directly to Connecticut customers would help the state economy, according to a report by the New Haven Register.
“A lot of those conveniences that dealerships provide, we’d like to do the same,” said Nicholas via the New Haven Register.
