American Airlines To Drop New Haven Service
American Airlines will no longer serve 15 smaller cities across the country.
NEW HAVEN, CT — American Airlines is dropping flights to 15 smaller U.S. cities in October, including New Haven. The airline is discontinuing service as a federal requirement to serve those cities is ending, according to The Associated Press.
American Airlines blamed low demand during the pandemic for causing a general slump in air travel.
Other cities American Airlines will be dropping include Sioux City and Springfield, Illinois, The Associated Press reported.

A pandemic relief measure by the federal government is providing $50 billion for the industry. American Airlines is set to be the largest recipient of cash and low-interest loans at $10.7 billion.
