Children With Disabilities Cut From Football Team: Report
Parents are raising concerns after their children were cut from a Pop Warner team.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Parents are raising concerns following children with disabilities being cut from a youth football league in New Haven. FOX 61 reported that Nijija-ife Waters said her son, Amadi Towe, has played football in the Pop Warner New Haven Steelers League for five years.
Now Amadi has been kicked off the team after she submitted his Individualized Education Program (IEP) report card. Waters has tried reaching out to the league but was told the report card indicated a "scholastic issue."
Another parent, Slyvia Roman, told FOX 61 that she saw a Facebook post from Waters and realized her son, eight-year-old Kevin Blackman, wasn't alone in being kicked off the team after handing in an IEP report to league officials.

Reggie Lytle, who serves as President of the New Haven Pop Warner Steelers League, said he had a meeting scheduled with the Southern Connecticut Pop Warner executive board to explain what an IEP is and relevant laws, but the meeting was cancelled, according to FOX 61.
