Citizens Winter Fun Run Raises nearly $7,000

Citizens Winter Fun Run Raises nearly $7,000 for the Amazing Grace Food Pantry and other Worthy Community Organizations

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Citizens Fun Run was held virtually in December, 2020. The event raised nearly $7,000 for the Amazing Grace Food Pantry, the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce's Mentor Program and the Kiwanis Club, despite having a smaller race field than usual. Participants ran at a time a place of their choosing and were mailed a custom race t-shirt.

“It’s nice to see the community come together during these hard times. While we wish we were able to hold our annual Middletown Fun Run this summer, we are so grateful for the help support the community has shown towards the Amazing Grace Food Pantry, Northern Middlesex Habitat for Humanity, the YMCA of Northern Middlesex County, and other worthy community organizations,” said Lisa Maass, President, Citizens, Connecticut.

The event and its participants donated $3,000 the Amazing Grace Food Pantry located in Middletown, CT. The staff and volunteers at Amazing Grace Food Pantry have been working hard to keep those in need fed through the COVID-19 pandemic and during the holiday season. Now more than ever, families are struggling to keep food on their plates. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic local food pantries are seeing more traffic than ever. The increase in pantry customers increases the need for donations.
