City Officials Release Post-Construction Traffic Plan For Long Wharf Drive

A new traffic pattern is being installed to include a new two-way bicycle lane, on-street parking, and new pedestrian crossings.

NEW HAVEN, CT – City officials today released details of a new traffic pattern for Long Wharf Drive now that the I-95/I-91 interchange overhaul and ‘Q’ Bridge construction projects are just about complete. After nearly 20 years of highway construction, the City of New Haven and the state Department of Transportation are working cooperatively to repair and improve the areas affected by the work.

On Long Wharf Drive, between Sargent Drive and East Street, a new traffic pattern is being installed to include a new two-way bicycle lane, on-street parking, and new pedestrian crossings. These changes will support a growing and diverse set of community activities on Long Wharf that will include the new Boathouse at Canal Dock and renovations to InfoCenter, scheduled to reopen in 2017.
