Downtown New Haven Sandwich Shop Appears Closed Permanently
A lack of traffic has reportedly caused a Subway sandwich shop to close.
NEW HAVEN, CT — The Subway sandwich shop at Chapel and Temple streets appears to have closed permanently, according to The New Haven Independent. The store's manager said that business has been hard hit by the pandemic, as the lack of students at Yale University and other schools has hurt business.
The shop has occupied 926 Chapel St. since 1996.
In a commercial eviction lawsuit filed by the property's landlord, Subway's operators are accused of owing more than $32,000 in back rent, utilities, and taxes.
