Elm City Communities announced today that President Karen DuBois-Walton will step down effective April 30, 2021 and Shenae Draughn, senior vice president of the Glendower Group, will be appointed interim president at that time.

President Karen DuBois-Walton offers the following statement:
“This decision has come after long and hard consideration for New Haven’s future, and it is with planning and certainty that I step away from my post at Elm City Communities,” DuBois-Walton said. “We’ve created a succession plan that iterates my commitment to this agency and ensures that it has the leadership it needs to progress its mission forward. As always, I look forward to watching the continued success of ECC in the fight to provide affordable, safe, and high-quality housing to all.”

Draughn shared the following statement:
“It is a tremendous honor to be appointed as interim president of Elm City Communities,” Draughn said. “I am truly humbled by the opportunity to serve this diverse, vibrant, and unique community. Karen’s leadership at Elm City Communities has been nothing short of an inspiration. She has set this agency down a path for the better and we will continue her good work as a champion of affordable housing.”
