Famous Filmmaker Stops By Pepe's Pizza

Pepe's has had a couple of celebrity sightings recently.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard stopped in at Pepe's pizza for lunch Tuesday after getting a recommendation from fellow Happy Days star Henry Winkler.

Howard is in New Haven filming a movie. He came in with a group of people and got a fresh tomato pie, according to the pizzeria's Facebook page.

In his youth Howard starred in The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days. He then became known for directing several well-received and award-winning movies including Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, The Da Vinci Code, and Frost/Nixon.

Howard wasn't the only star that stopped in Pepe's recently. NBA legend and UConn Huskies alumnus Ray Allen stopped in with two of his sons. He had a mozzarella, sausage, mushroom and garlic pie while his sons ate a pepperoni pizza.

Allen holds the all-time record for most completed career three-pointers. His number was retired this year at UConn.
