NEW HAVEN, CT — A 59-year-old Hamden woman died following a two-car crash in New Haven Thursday, according to police. Charlene Fusaris was hospitalized before succumbing to her injuries Friday.

Police said in a statement that the crash occurred just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday on Fountain Street near Pardee Place. Fusaris was driving a black Pontiac Vibe and traveling east on Fountain Street as a 23-year-old Oxford man was driving a red Saab 9-2 west on the same road, police said.

The Saab driver passed one vehicle on the two-lane street when he attempted to pass a second vehicle as the driver slowed to turn right, police said. The Saab driver crossed the double-yellow line and was traveling in the eastbound lane when he collided head-on with Fusaris, police said.
