Man Seriously Injured In New Haven Dirt Bike Crash
A wreck between a dirt bike and car has left one person hospitalized.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A dirt bike driver was seriously injured and remains hospitalized after an accident. Around 2:30 p.m. Monday, New Haven police and fire responded to the two-vehicle crash on Grand Avenue at Fillmore Street in Fair Haven.
According to police:
Prior to the crash, a 19-year-old New Haven man was driving a Toyota Corolla and traveling southbound on Fillmore Street.

The dirt bike driver, a 26-year-old man, was traveling westbound on Grand Avenue.
At the intersection of Fillmore Street at Grand Avenue, the Toyota driver stopped at a stop sign, then rolled forward into the intersection.

As he did so, the dirt bike driver came in doing a wheelie, lost control, and collided with the front driver side of the stopped Toyota.
Emergency medical responders arrived and treated the injured biker. The Toyota driver remained at the scene and received treatment for minor injuries.
An ambulance transported the dirt bike driver to the hospital. While his injuries were considered not life threatening, he sustained head trauma and internal injuries.
Following emergency surgery, he remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Investigation into the wreck is ongoing.
