New Haven Chef Competing On Food Network Show
The local restaurant owner and chef will appear on an upcoming episode of the Food Network's "Chopped."
NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven chef will appear on an upcoming episode of “Chopped” on the Food Network, according to the New Haven Register.
The Register reports Chef Emily Mingrone had just signed the lease on her restaurant, Tavern on State in New Haven, when the Food Network came to film footage for her appearance on the show. The restaurant hadn’t even opened for business yet at that time.
Mingrone is featured in the episode titled “High on the Hog,” which airs May 26.

“Nose-to-tail cannot fail!” reads the description of the episode on the Food Network website. “The competing chefs are elated to get a pork theme for their battle, and the gorgeous cuts of premium meat in the first basket don't disappoint. A Bloody Mary with a special surprise adds to the porky fun in the second round. Then something fizzy and something ‘offal-ly’ difficult to incorporate in a dessert are part of the final challenge.”
While restaurants can begin reopening May 20, Tavern on State announced Friday that it will be closed from May 17 to May 27. After much deliberation, the restaurant announced its plan of action for reopening.
