New Haven Christmas Tree Replaced By Anonymous Donor

After the first tree was destroyed, a second tree has been installed.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A second Christmas tree went up at the New Haven Green on Wednesday after the first tree was destroyed in a mid-November storm, according to The New Haven Register. About 40 local residents had come forward to offer a replacement tree.

Mayor Justin Elicker said in a tweet: "Out here on the Green this morning! We raised the Menorah and are putting up the 2nd Holiday Tree. Thanks so much to Bill Carone and the Parks Department, the local family who donated the tree, and everyone coming together despite all the challenges this year. Happy Holidays."

The local donor who supplied the new tree asked to remain anonymous, according to The New Haven Register.
