New Haven Declares Travel, Parking Bans

Travel during the storm will be banned for non-essential employees.

NEW HAVEN, CT — City officials have announced travel and parking bans as Tuesday's blizzard approaches.

A citywide parking ban will take place at midnight and the travel ban will start 7 a.m. Tuesday. The bans will be cancelled when conditions allow.

Parking on both sides of the street is prohibited in the downtown area along posted snow routes.

Residential areas odd side of the street parking is prohibited. Residents must park on the even side.

Beginning at 6:00 p.m. today public school parking lots and the Temple Street, Crown Street, and Granite Square parking garages are also available to residents.

The citywide travel ban prohibits the use of city streets except for essential employees, those designated by their employers.

The public library and senior centers will be closed Tuesday. Trash normally picked up on Tuesday will be bumped up and begin at 11 p.m. tonight.
