New Haven Man Accused Of Robbing Woman At Gunpoint: Milford PD
The man is accused of threatening to hurt a child while robbing the woman in a credit union parking lot in Milford, according to police.

MILFORD, CT — A New Haven man has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery and assault of a woman in a credit union parking lot in Milford earlier this year, according to police.
Milford police responded to the parking lot of the Sikorsky Federal Credit Union, 15 Turnpike Square, at around 1 p.m. on March 1 on the report of an armed robbery.
The woman and a juvenile were getting into a vehicle after leaving the credit union when a dark SUV pulled up, according to police.

Police said a man got out of the SUV, stood in front of the woman and told her to give him her purse or he would hurt the child. The woman then put the child in the vehicle and turned back to confront the man when he displayed a gun, according to police.
The woman began screaming and the man then struck her in the face, reached inside the vehicle and took her purse and left in the SUV, police said.

Milford police detectives found the suspect vehicle in New Haven after tracking the victim’s cell phone that was in the purse, according to police.
Police said Douglas Hutchings, 49, of Hilltop Road in New Haven, was developed as a suspect for this case along with multiple armed robberies in New Haven, West Haven, and Milford. An arrest warrant was obtained for Hutchings, who was on federal parole for a bank robbery that he was convicted of, according to police.
East Haven Police and the U.S. Marshal’s Office found Hutchings while executing a search warrant in East Haven police said. Hutchings was turned over to the Milford Police Department and a federal warrant has also been issued for Hutchings, according to police.
Hutchings was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, third-degree larceny, third-degree assault, risk of injury to a child and reckless driving. He is being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond with a court date of June 24, according to state judicial records.
