New Haven Police Chief To Retire; Acting Chief Named

New Haven Police Chief Otoniel Reyes will retire and an acting chief has been named.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Mayor Justin Elicker will name Assistant Police Chief Renee Dominguez as acting chief of the New Haven Police Department in the coming months, according to The Connecticut Post. Elicker said Dominguez will be officially named to the spot in June.

The city recently announced Police Chief Otoniel Reyes's retirement after 21 years with the department, according to a statement. The chief's term ends in January 2022.

Dominguez has served the department for 18 years and Elicker praised her "tested leadership," according to The Connecticut Post.
