When cops got there they found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, was treated for life-threatening injuries and, Shumway said, remains in critical condition.

As originally reported by the New Haven Independent, a neighbor who knows the woman and her family, wrote on social media the incident is an example of "another young life destroyed by senseless street violence," Leslie Radcliffe penned. Radcliffe wrote that the young woman was shot "less than 100 yards" from her kitchen window. She reported that the woman "she died on the concrete..."
