Newly Remodeled Claire's Corner Copia Reopens Friday

NEW HAVEN, CT —After months without the popular vegetarian spot, many are excited that Claire’s Corner Copia reopens Friday at noon after being closed since March.

Claire’s Corner Copia, a renowned vegetarian restaurant focused on fresh, organic and sustainable food since 1975, closed in March due to the coronavirus pandemic followed by a scheduled remodel.

“Over the past few months, the roles have reversed, and Claire’s Corner Copia received overwhelming support from the community in the form of countless heartfelt messages and gift card purchases," said owner Claire Criscuolo. "We are also extremely grateful to our landlord, Yale University Properties, for their unwavering support and assistance as we faced both the pandemic and the remodel. Without Yale, our reopening would not have been possible."

Claire’s is excited to announce not only their reopening, but a renovated interior space as well. They expanded the restaurant, returning it to the original footprint which includes the corner of College and Chapel streets. In addition to the larger dining area, Claire’s received a new kitchen, new floors throughout and a few other odds and ends to help better serve their customers.

Criscuolo said that, "In addition to completing the CDC recommendations for a safe reopening, we've installed HEPA filtered air purifiers, and upgraded our air conditioning system with new filters designed to clean the air more thoroughly."

Since its inception, Claire’s has maintained a constant focus on serving the New Haven community and supporting important programs such as New Haven Reads, Clifford Beers Child Guidance Clinic, Yale New Haven Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Camp Kesem at Yale.

Claire’s Corner Copia, located at 1000 Chapel St., is open for indoor and outdoor dining, takeout and curbside delivery Wednesday-Monday, 9:00am-9:00pm. Claire’s will be closed on Tuesdays for the short-term.

Claire’s Corner Copia is celebrates its 45th year anniversary Sept. 17.
