Obituary: Dorrett Upina Allen, 79, of New Haven

NEW HAVEN, CT - (From Colonial Funeral Home) Dorrett Upina Allen, age 79 of New Haven, CT entered into eternal life on Monday May 31, 2021 at her home.

Dorrett was born July 9, 1941 in Manchester, Jamaica. She was the daughter of Wilbert Longly and Gwenita Hayles of Jamaica both predeceased.

Dorrett was a hardworking, caring and loving woman. She previously worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant at The Willows of Woodbridge and Whitney Manor.

Having worked in the healthcare field for over 30+ years, she retired in 2013.

She brought joy to the people around her and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Dorrett was a woman who had a warm spirit and always wore a smile on her face.

She was a beloved mother and grandmother. She leaves behind her son Elvis Williams and his children Jenny, Kenny, Cheyenne & Braxton. Her daughter Sonia Levy and her children Melisia, Trudy Ann, Kevin, Jeffery & Camron. Her daughter Delrene Smith and her daughter Aleesa.

Her son Donald Allen and his children Mason & Maxwell. She also leaves behind a slew of great grandchildren as well as close family and friends.

A celebration of Dorrett’s life will be held on Wednesday June 9, 2021 at 11am at St. Luke’s Church. Located at 111 Whalley Ave, New Haven, CT.
