One Woman Uniting People ONE Button At A Time Needs Your Help

Ms. Garrett thought 2020 was too divisive, started a project to unite people across the United States and it started with one tiny button.

As I was contemplating what to do next as a unification project. My thoughts were it had to be something as many people as possible could participate in and I had to complete it in quarantine (due to Covid-19). Whilst sipping a tasty hot cup of wild raspberry tea, I was adding a star and more buttons to my Grandmother's Memorial Charmstring. YES! I thought, that's the answer!!! I will create the world's first largest Worldwide Community Tribute Charmstring Button Garland!

Ms. Garrett commented, "My goals are to collect as many buttons, broken jewelry, old keys, old jingle bells, charms, old keys and other items to create the project". If the items are made of metals, glass, shell, stone...etc. and are small up to quarter size I can use them. The items must be little things I can string along
people already have but are not using. It's a way of keeping in touch, recycle, unite people and working towards a common, happy good. It's also a way to commemorate and memorialize the year 2020 and move onto better days. It's been a year of trials, tribulations and at the end of it all we will endure. In addition, the project tells the history and story of the original Victorian Charmstrings and buttons.

After the project is complete, it will be on display for the holidays. Ms. Garrett says, the next goal is to display it in libraries, local museums and bring it to schools for children to learn of the history and why I created it with the help of a worldwide community of people that donated buttons, bits and bobs.

Currently, the project is over 77 feet long! Thus far, it's brought together people from 12 states across the country and Canada. Initially, she wanted the Worldwide Community Tribute Charmstring Button Garland to measure over 50 feet long by December 24th. However, going well beyond that measurement is WONDERFUL and I am on my way to 100 feet with the help of amazing people from all walks of life.

More help is still needed with collecting materials. Anyone can help, it's very easy. You simply mail buttons, bits and bobs to:
