Pedestrian Hit, Critically Injured In New Haven Crash

NEW HAVEN, CT — A pedestrian was critically injured in a Thursday night crash, according to police. Emergency responders received the call at 8 p.m. regarding a pedestrian struck on Sherman Parkway between Harding Place and Ford Street.

A 32-year-old man was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Witnesses told police that prior to the accident, the pedestrian was removing his clothing and walking in the street on Sherman Parkway.

A 36-year-old New Haven woman driving a Mercedes-Benz was traveling northbound on Sherman Parkway. As the Mercedes driver approached Ford Street, her car struck the pedestrian on the car's driver’s side, according to police.

The impact of the collision sent the pedestrian over the Mercedes and onto the street. The Mercedes driver pulled over to the side of the roadway and remained at the scene.

Police are investigating if a second northbound vehicle then struck the injured victim in the roadway.

The second car fled the scene and was last seen continuing northbound on Sherman Parkway toward Hamden.

No other injuries were reported.
