Portland Man Charged With DUI In Car V. Building Crash

A man has been charged with DUI following a wreck over the weekend in New Haven.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A man has been charged with DUI on accusations that he crashed in to a building early Saturday morning, according to police. Kevin Egan, 20, of Portland, was charged with DUI and failure to drive in proper lane.

The crash happened Saturday at 2:08 a.m. at the intersection of Whalley Avenue and Central Avenue in the Westville Village.

Egan was driving a Kia Sorento and traveling north on Central Avenue, which ends at the intersection with Whalley. Egan failed to turn left or right onto Whalley Avenue but continued across the intersection, crashing into the building at 881 Whalley Ave. and causing significant damage to the building, police said in a statement.

Egan sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital. He is due in court Nov. 9.
