I-95 In New Haven Reopens After Protesters Shut It Down Sunday
This is the third major interstate to be shut down this weekend in Connecticut.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Protesters shutdown Interstate 95 in both directions between exits 46 and 50 on Sunday afternoon. The closure began around 1:40 p.m. and reopened after a couple of hours.
Route 34 between Exit 1 and I-95/91 merge has also reopened after being closed by protesters earlier Sunday afternoon. People are protesting the death of George Floyd, who died in the custody of Minneapolis police this week.

New Haven Independent Editor Paul Bass said about 1,000 Black Lives Matter protesters marched on the highway Sunday. Bass said that the protesters "locked arms silently by Exit 46 while Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” played."
Protesters briefly shut down Interstate 84 in both directions between Exits 22 and 23 in Waterbury Sunday afternoon, according to state officials. The highway was closed for about an hour but has since reopened as of 1 p.m.

This comes one day after protesters shut down a portion of Route 8 in Bridgeport for several hours Saturday. Numerous protests were held across the state and nation this weekend.
