NEW HAVEN, CT — A severe storm bringing strong winds and heavy rain hit the state Sunday, knocking down trees and power lines. This included the Christmas tree on the New Haven Green, which toppled during the high winds, according to WTNH.

The tree was put up only two weeks ago and was one of the largest the city ever displayed at 70 feet tall and 12,000 pounds. However, the winds of up to 60 mph took the tree and its lights down, according to WTNH.
