VP Kamala Harris In New Haven Friday: Here's Where She'll Be

Vice President Kamala Harris will visit the Boys & Girls Club of New Haven and the West Haven Child Development Center.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Vice President Kamala Harris will arrive at Tweed New Haven Airport Friday afternoon and spend the day in New Haven as part of the Biden Administration's "Help is Here" campaign to promote the American Rescue Plan stimulus package.

Harris will depart Joint Base Andrews at around 11:50 a.m Friday morning, according to the White House.

Under a dense and heavy fog at Tweed Friday morning, security was tight, with police and Secret Service posted.

State Rep. Sean Scanlon, the airport's executive director, told Patch preparations for the arrival of the vice president have been underway.

"Our team has been hard at work preparing for this special visit, and we are honored to welcome Vice President Harris to Connecticut," he said.

As her motorcade proceeds into the city, she will undoubtedly pass one of the several Lamar billboards welcoming her to the Elm City.

After arriving at Tweed, she will hold a listening session at 2:35 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of New Haven. She'll be joined there by Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, and Connecticut leaders on how the American Rescue Plan addresses child poverty and education.

“I’m fired up to welcome my former colleague in the Senate and friend Vice President Kamala Harris to Connecticut today," Murphy said in a statement Friday morning.

"The vice president’s visit to our state sends a clear message: help is on the way," Murphy said. "I’m happy to join her today in New Haven and showcase some of the amazing work being done in our state."

At 4:35 p.m., she will visit the West Haven Child Development Center and deliver remarks. She will be joined there by Cardona and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and the event will be live-streamed.

Harris will depart Tweed around 6:45 p.m.
