2 Fatal Accidents; 1,263 Speeding Incidences Occur on Memorial Day Weekend 2016
Connecticut State Police released the 2016 statistics for their enforcement operation over Memorial Day weekend.

Troopers patrolled the highways and roads in Connecticut over this 2016 Memorial Day weekend, using traditional and non-traditional patrol cars, according to CT State Police.
The enforcement project started at 12:01 a.m. on 5/26/16 and ran through 11:59 p.m. on 5/30/16.
"Troopers targeted aggressive/reckless drivers, distracted drivers, speeders, seatbelt violations and intoxicated driver to reduce traffic crashes," Trooper Tyler Weerden stated in the release. "Sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols were also in place over the entire weekend."

- Speeding: 1,263
- Seatbelt: 903
- Hazardous Moving Violations: 4,111 (Includes unsafe lane changes, following too closely, cellphone/texting, etc.)
- DWI Arrests: 51

- Speeding: 1,254
- Seatbelt: 1,454
- Hazardous Moving Violations: 4,548 (Includes unsafe lane changes, following too closely, cellphone/texting, etc.)
