Aug. 12th Was The 6th Ct. Regiment Encampment

A New London Resident Served There

A modern-day re-enactment of the 6th Connecticut Regiment was held Saturday August 12th.

Sammual H. Parsons a member of New London’s Committee of Correspondence in 1772 was commissioned Colonel of the 6th Connecticut Regiment, In 1775, a new regiment that was raised “for the special defense and safety of the Colony”. In June he was ordered to lead his regiment to Boston, where he fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill. He remained in Boston until the British evacuated the city in March 1776.
