Bullet Goes Astray In New London; Narrowly Misses Innocent Bystander: Police

New London Police arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the October 2015 incident.

On Thursday, May 19, at 9:30 a.m., New London Police served an arrest warrant for 19-year-old Donnie R. Moore, Jr.

Moore is presently in the custody of the Connecticut Department of Corrections. The charges against him are the result of a lengthy investigation into a shooting at the intersection of Ashcraft Road and Cape Ann Court in New London on Oct. 30, 2015.

"During this shooting incident, Moore fired a bullet that went astray and narrowly missed an innocent bystander,” according to a press release from New London Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard. "The innocent bystander was standing in his bedroom when the stray bullet penetrated his bedroom window and came to rest inside the bedroom closet."

Moore was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Pistol without a Permit
  • Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm
  • Weapons in a Motor Vehicle
  • Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree

Moore's bond was court-set at $25,000, cash only, and he remains in the custody of the Connecticut Department of Corrections.
