City Invites Submissions For New London's Second Poet Laureate
Submissions will require up to 600 words expressing interest in the position, a resume, two letters of recommendation and a work sample.

Inviting the talented poets and writers of New London: The application process to become New London’s second Poet Laureate is now open!

Submissions are now being accepted to be named the Poet Laureate of the City of New London, exclusive to residents of New London. In addition to the application form, submissions will require up to 600 words expressing interest in this position, a resume, two letters of recommendation, and a work sample.
Applications are due before or on February 5th, 2021. Mayor Michael Passero will appoint the new Poet Laureate who will begin a three-year term on April 5th, 2021.

This position will feature an annual stipend of $300. The City of New London is excited to continue to celebrate creative expression through literature in our community!
“Serving as the City of New London Poet Laureate has been an honor and a pleasure,” said Rhonda Ward, the 1st New London Poet Laureate. “Collaborations with local organizations and artists, as well as special writing projects for the City helped me to grow in unexpected ways.”
