Come to East Lyme Touch A Truck
Niantic Rotary to conduct an Amber Alert Safe Child ID Event
On Saturday, May 19th the East Lyme Auxiliary of Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut and the East Lyme Parks and Recreation Department will co-sponsor the eleventh annual Touch a Truck event. This is a family event that will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at McCook Point Park in Niantic, CT.
Returning again will be the NIANTIC ROTARY with their project to safeguard children - AMBER ALERT. This program is a voluntary nationwide partnership to combat child abduction by providing immediate descriptive information to law enforcement to aid in a child’s safe recovery.
The AMBER ALERT Safe Child ID Project is the only known program to pass out an ID card to parents that can be immediately handed to Law Enforcement as soon as a child is discovered missing.

The AMBER ALERT Safe Child ID Project has endeavored to provide both privacy and security of the information and the computer system. Privacy is achieved by omitting the child’s name and address from the ID card. Security of the data is provided by making access to the information available only to law enforcement officials who can activate an AMBER ALERT.
The Rotary chairman for this event is Neil Frisch. More information can be found at http://amberchildid.org/information.html
