Father Of Slain New London Child Speaks Out
The father of a New London 4-year-old who was killed by his mother, according to police, spoke out in an interview.

NEW LONDON, CT — The father of a New London 4-year-old who was killed by his mother, according to police, said he couldn't come to grips with what happened, according to an interview with FOX 61. David Jasmin said he considered his son, also named David, a "miracle baby," as he wasn't supposed to be able to have children.
He was with the boy's mother, Tiffany Farrauto, for 7 years and regrets not having spent more time with his son. He said that Farrauto wanted him to "have a consistent life...before she let me back into his life," according to FOX 61.
Farrauto was arrested Sunday and told officers she strangled the boy in her Nautilus Drive apartment, police said. She was held in custody in lieu of $2 million bail, which was set by a judge on Monday.

Officers encountered Farrauto Sunday morning after someone reported she used a baseball bat to damage a vehicle in a Nautilus Drive parking lot, police said. Farrauto left the area then returned and told officers she hurt her son, police said.
Police went to her apartment to check on the child. They found the boy unconscious and unresponsive, called emergency medical personnel and began CPR in an attempt to resuscitate, police said.

The child was driven to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, and pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, police said.
Farrauto first contacted the Department of Children and Families in 2017, FOX 61 reported. The initial contact regarded allegations of substance use and support needed to care for an infant. Farrauto contacted DCF again about concerns that an unknown person may have maltreated her son.
Farrauto, a single mother, has lived in New London for about eight years, and her mother told The New London Day that she suffers from "very serious mental issues." An attorney for Farrauto said that she has "underlying mental health issues that contributed to the incident."
A Go Fund Me has been started to pay for the child's funeral services.
Carlene Rose Brianna Bushee and Nicholas Farrauto, who started the fundraiser, wrote: "On Sunday, March 7, 2021, we lost a sweet baby boy, David (Cash). He was 4 years old. Due to the sudden and tragic way he was taken, we would like to help his family to be able to pay for the services. This Angel baby deserves a beautiful service and to help eliminate anymore heart ache on the family."
