Firefighters Battled 2-Alarm House Fire On Montauk Avenue
Reported early Tuesday morning, the Red Cross was called as at least 9 residents are displaced after a fire at 204 Montauk Ave.

NEW LONDON, CT — Reported before 8 a.m. Tuesday, a two-alarm fire at 204 Montauk Ave., has several neighboring fire departments assisting New London firefighters battle the blaze.
Just before 9 a.m., fire command was requesting the Red Cross to assist at least nine people displaced by the house fire.
Children are reported to be among those displaced.

Fire departments from Waterford, the Submarine Base and Norwich have been called in to help. It's reported that Montauk Avenue, from Harris Road and Moore Avenue, was closed for a time but was reopened around 10:30 a.m.

Update at 9 a.m.: Firefighters are reporting that the majority of the fire has been "knocked down."
Update at 10 a.m.: Emergency scanner updates that the fire was knocked down and all residents made it out of the dwelling.
The Salvation Army canteen was on scene of the fire providing meals and hydration to first responders.
It's reported two people were taken to the hospital; a firefighter with a hand injury and a pregnant woman.

Tuesday afternoon, firefighters thanked mutual aid partners Waterford Professional Firefighters Association Local 4629 Submarine Base Firefighters Local F-219 Norwich Firefighters Local 892 Poquonnock Bridge Professional Firefighters Local 2704 Groton Ambulance, wrote on their Instagram account.
They noted that "duty companies made a quick and aggressive attack saving the building."
