April initial meeting to be on Zoom
For 2021, the Friends programs will celebrate the 101th anniversary of women’s suffrage. On Thursday, April 29, 2021, because of the Covid-19 Virus, we will start this year’s program on Women’s Suffrage with a Zoom Presentation.

The struggle for women’s suffrage dates to our country’s founding in 1776, when Abigail Adams first asked her husband to “remember the ladies” in the “new code of laws”. Even though she was unsuccessful, seventy-two years later, “the ladies” began the struggle to gain what they had not obtained at the founding of the country-the right to vote. It would take another 72 years before their goal was achieved with the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920, not long after the end of World War I. Our programs will begin with Abigail Adams during the Revolutionary War.
We are delighted to present Sheryl Faye, who has masterfully brought to life important historical women across the U.S. Her one-woman show will immerse the audience in a learning experience that captivates viewers and sparks their interest.

One of the many participants at her performances has said, “Sheryl Faye is amazing. Her ability to embody her character … along with the media of sound and sight is quite extraordinary. What a gift to teach us about our “herstory” in such an enjoyable manner.”
This is a performance not to be missed. Members will be sent the information to join the Zoom Presentation in the near future. More information about the Fort and the Friends of Fort Trumbull is available at www.fortfriends.org and on Facebook at Friends of Fort Trumbull State Park.
