Heroin Epidemic Topic of April 21 CPTV Program

In some Connecticut communities, police have responded to multiple opioid overdoses in one day, most recently Middletown and Groton.

"Communities in Crisis: Battling Connecticut’s Heroin Epidemic" will be broadcast on CPTV and CPTV Sports on Thursday, April 21, at 8 p.m. The community discussion may be viewed on-demand before the show airs and will be re-broadcast on the following days and times:

  • CPTV – Tuesday, May 3 at 10 p.m. and Sunday, May 22 at 6 p.m.
  • CPTV Sports – Tuesday, April 26 at 9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 11 at 10 p.m.

CPTV is inviting members of the community to join the studio audience for this live discussion. The evening will begin with a reception catered by Blue Plate Kitchen, West Hartford at 6:30 p.m., followed by the live discussion at 8 p.m. at CPTV’s Hartford studios, located at 1049 Asylum Avenue.

The Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) announced a new toll-free number connecting residents seeking treatment and services for an opioid addiction to local walk-in assessment centers. Residents will now be able to call 1-800-563-4086, 24 hours a day, to connect them or a loved one to a walk-in assessment center in their area. For more information, click here.
