Longtime New London Official Dies Due To COVID Complications
Joseph Heap II, a longtime member of the city's Planning and Zoning Commission, died over the weekend.
NEW LONDON, CT — A former New London official died over the weekend following complications associated with COVID-19, The New London Day reported. Joseph Heap II, 73, was a former longtime member of the city's Planning and Zoning Commission.
He was remembered as a civic-minded man who loved the city, according to The New London Day. Heap first served as chairman of the Republican Town Committee in the 1970s, then was later a member of two Charter Revision Commissions.
He joined the Planning and Zoning Commission in 1981 and became chairman in 1994.
