Man Brandishes Gun at New London Nursing Home: Police
Louisiana resident Paul Bialowas was arrested for alleged possession of an assault weapon.

New London Police were called to Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation for a report of an intoxicated man displaying a gun inside the facility.
"Upon police arrival, the suspect had just exited the front door and taken into custody without incident," New London Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard said in a press release. "He was found in possession of an unloaded Taurus "The Judge" .45 Colt/.410 gage shot shell revolver. Also recovered from his person was one (1) .410-ga shot shell round."
The suspect was identified as Paul Bialowas, 66, of 23944 Edwards Rd., Zachary, Louisiana. Police located his rental car a short distance away.
"Recovered from the car was an AR-15 assault weapon, a 9mm pistol .380 pistol assorted ammunition and large capacity ammunition magazine," Reichard said.
Bialowas has a valid Connecticut pistol permit, police said. He was charged with the following:
- Possession of assault weapon
- Carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs
- Possession of large capacity magazines (four counts)
- Reckless endangerment in the second degree
- Threatening in the second degree
- Breach of peace in the second degree
"No shots [were] fired," Reichard. "None of the 43 patients, 15 staff or four visitors were injured."
Bialowas is being held on $75,000 cash/surety bond.
