More Than 200-Pound Lion Statue Stolen From Porch: New London Police

Police said a statue of a lion, weighing more than 200 pounds, was stolen from a porch in New London​.

NEW LONDON, CT - Police said a statue of a lion, weighing more than 200 pounds, was stolen from a porch in New London on Wednesday, as reported by the New London Day. The statue was the right-facing half of a set, leaving the left-facing statue without its partner.

Police said the owner noticed the statue was missing from his home at 160 Broad Street on Wednesday morning, according to the New London Day. Police also said whoever stole the statue did not leave much evidence of having been on the property. The owner, Bob Paolino, suspects the thief or thieves used some type of rig or mobile crane to lift the heavy statue, the New London Day reported. He also said he is worried whoever stole the statue may come back for the other.
