Movie Based On Famous New London Court Case Premieres In City
The film is set to receive a limited national release following its New London premiere.

NEW LONDON, CT — A movie based on the famous Kelo vs. The City of New London court case recently premiered in the city that inspired the story, according to media reports. "Little Pink House" was shown Sunday night at the Garde Arts Center in New London, where it played to a sold-out crowd of 1,400.
According to Fox 61, the case concerned Eminent Domain as the city sought to transfer land from one private owner to another to further economic development. The case was eventually ruled in favor of the city by the Supreme Court of the United States, and the homeowners' houses were leveled as a result.
The case was eventually used as the basis for a book, also titled “Little Pink House,” by author Jeff Benedict. The film was directed by Courtney Moorehead Balaker.

Benedict, a native of Waterford, said he knew early on the story would do well as a movie, according to the New London Day. The film was well-received at its New London premiere, with loud applause breaking out after the movie ended.
"Little Pink Houses" is set to receive a limited national release in the cities of New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Atlanta, and has already played at a few film festivals prior to its showing Sunday, according to the Day.
