NEW LONDON, CT — The city council voted to approve $30 million for a new community recreation center in New London, according to The Day. The 62,000-square-foot facility is still in the planning phase and will be built on 6.8 acres at Fort Trumbull.

Advocates have praised the project, citing a need for indoor recreational space. Meanwhile, critics have said that the site would be better suited for a tax-paying entity.
