New London High School Football Team Receives Message from Mayor

NEW LONDON, CT - The New London High Whalers' season may be over, but they are still receiving praise for an "impressive" season from a higher office.

Mayor Michael Passero posted a congratulatory message to the team on the city's Facebook page Wednesday. He referred to the team in his message as impressive and inspiring, considering them to be an example to the community.

Here is Passero's message in its entirety:

Thank You and Congratulations Coach Roman, Coaches and the entire New London High School "Whaler" Football Team on an Impressive 2016 Football Season.

You've provided our community with excitement, great examples of leadership, sportsmanship, hope and phenomenal entertainment this season.

Perfection should never be the goal, excellence within your abilities must be and you have far exceeded our expectations. Thank you for the outstanding example you have been to our dynamic community."
